Heather Williams BDS (Lond) MFGDP(UK)

Photo of Heather Williams Heather graduated from Guy’s Dental Hospital in 1984. She has worked as a dentist in Petts Wood since 1986. In 1994 she gained the MFGDP at the Royal College of Surgeons.

The Dental Surgery has been established for over 60 years, and Heather became Practice owner in 1997. She aims for the Practice to give excellent dental care ensuring that each individual patient is valued and respected. She is extremely proud of the team that she has chosen with meticulous detail for their skill, their integrity, their warmth and their kindness. She is also determined that the Practice helps patients to keep their teeth for life. The Practice offers free dental check ups for all patients who are interested in striving for their longterm dental health by joining Denplan.

The Practice is proud of its support of Charities such as Smile, Breast Cancer care and The Whitechapel Mission.


Sarah Ide BDS (Lond)

Photo of Sarah IdeSarah qualified from Guy's in 1992. This was followed by a year working as a Resident within the hospital gaining experience and skills in children's dentistry and oral surgery. Sarah then undertook vocational training in a practice in Hampshire, and has worked in our practice since 1997.

Sarah regularly attends professional courses to maintain up to date knowledge in all aspects of dental care, and continues to have a special interest and experience in oral surgery and in children's dentistry. Sarah has additionally gained experience in a range of cosmetic and aesthetic treatment procedures. She is able to offer evening appointments and is committed to providing high quality treatment focussing on the needs of individual patients.

She lives locally and has a young family.


Dr Mark Ide BDS MSc FDS (RestDent) FDSRCS(Eng) FHEA

Photo of Mark IdeMark is a Specialist in Periodontics, Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry. He qualified from Guy’s and after several years in hospital and oral surgery posts commenced practice and started working for his PhD. He was awarded FDS in 1993 and MSc with Distinction in Periodontology in 1996. He completed extensive Consultant level training in Restorative Dentistry in 2001, resulting in a further Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is currently Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Periodontology at King’s College London, and a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Guy’s Hospital.

Mark is involved extensively in the training of dentists and specialists in periodontology, children’s dentistry, implant dentistry and other specialties. He has over 30 published research papers, is regularly ranked amongst the top dental teachers in the UK and has lectured around the world.

Mark’s particular interests are in the delivery of predictable, high quality dental care with an emphasis on the treatment of gum (periodontal) disease and gum problems, and the use of dental implants to solve a range of dental problems. His wide-ranging experience allows him to provide a full range of treatment, tailored to the patients health, functional and cosmetic needs but considering all aspects of their care.


Christopher Prange BDS

Photo of Christopher PrangeChris qualified in 1996 from the University of Sheffield Dental School and has been in General Dental Practice ever since. He undertook postgraduate vocational training and in 2000 returned to his home town to settle and joined our practice.

Chris gains much satisfaction from getting to know his patients well and helping them to achieve and maintain a healthy mouth and smile. He particularly enjoys treating and getting to know all family members, from the very young to the very old and providing them with a very personal level of continuing care.

He is well experienced in all aspects of dentistry and attends many postgraduate courses in order to provide the latest techniques and procedures. Chris works full time in Petts Wood and offers late evenings and Saturday morning appointments. He is married and has a young daughter.


James Dodd BDS (Lond)

Photo of James DoddIn 1999 James qualified from King's College School of Medicine and Dentistry. From there he undertook an additional year's postgraduate vocational training to further his general dental practice experience and skills.

With a commitment to postgraduate education and a desire to be up to date with latest techniques he has completed numerous postgraduate courses. The most recent of which was a 6 week attachment to Guy's Dental Hospital treating patients referred in from general practice who are having particular problems wearing dentures.

He is interested in all aspects of general dentistry with particular interests in deep bleaching (advanced tooth whitening technique) and aesthetic crowns (special ceramic crowns closely colour matched using complex shading techniques and digital photography).

James is happy to see patients who are nervous and 'don't like the dentist'. Aiming to give nervous patients a positive dental experience to break the cycle of dreading going and waiting for that painful toothache.

As the early riser in the practice James offers 8am starts, particularly useful for the busy commuter. Patient's requiring earlier appointments can be requested on an individual basis.


Georgina Baker BDS Hons MFDS (RCSEng) MSc

Photo of Georgina BakerHaving settled in the local area, Georgina has been working part time in Petts Wood since July 2007. It is important to Georgina to work in a calm and friendly environment where you, the patient, are well taken care of and her aim is to provide high quality dentistry and continuing care. She likes to spend time getting to know patients and hopes to take away the fear of the dentist from nervous patients. Although maintenance of oral health is paramount, she can discuss dentistry that is available to improve your smile.

Georgina qualified from St Bart’s and The Royal London in 2004. She is committed to furthering her skills and keeping up to date with latest techniques. She took postgraduate examinations to gain MFDS at the Royal College of Surgeons in 2007 and Masters in Conservative Dentistry at the Eastman Dental Institute in 2009.

Georgina has a range of hospital and practice based experience. After Vocational Training in dental practice, she spent two years working in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery hospital departments. There she performed extractions and minor oral surgery, and assisted with oral medicine clinics and oral cancer screening. She was also on call to A+E for dental trauma and severe dental infections.

As part of prosthodontic specialty training Georgina completed a year of restorative dentistry followed by a master’s degree at the Eastman Dental Institute in London. This encompassed an in depth study and clinical experience of preventative dentistry, root canal fillings, aesthetic restorative procedures using fillings, crowns and bridges, and the placement and restoration of dental implants to replace missing teeth.
