Read More Next

We believe in transparency and value. Our new patient appointments are designed to give you a comprehensive understanding of your oral health, with no pressure, and plenty of time to ask questions. Our adult new patient exam is only £74.

Your first appointment includes:

  • Screening radiographs: This allow us to reveal any hidden dental problems, review past dental work and forms a foundation for your treatment plan.
  • OPG radiograph (if clinically required): This gives us a panoramic view, and offers more diagnostic value for problem areas.
  • Itero digital scan: A non-invasive, radiation-free way to capture a highly detailed 3D image of your teeth, gums, and bite. We use this as part of a comprehensive initial assessment, especially when planning cosmetic, restorative, or orthodontic treatments.
  • Oral cancer screening: This is a non-invasive, quick, and painless process, typically taking just a few minutes.
  • Periodontal health screening: Assesses the health of the gums and supporting structures of the teeth.

“The team here are incredibly helpful and kind. From the receptionist who always greets you with a smile and a chat to the dentists. I always feel cared for” (August 2025)

General Dentistry Treatments

Looking for advanced dental care or planning a routine checkup? Either way, a private general dentist is your safest option to get the best dental treatment, which also looks good for your money.

What Is General Dentistry?

General dentistry includes a broad range of treatments and practices, e.g., dental plaque removal, teeth filing, and dental calculus treatments essential to protecting and sustaining excellent oral health. There are different treatments to keep the mouth, gums, and teeth clean and pain-free. General dentists are usually compared to general practitioners in that their primary purpose is to prevent and diagnose illness.

Who Needs a General Dentist?

As you can see, general dentistry covers a vast range of advanced dentistry treatments from wisdom dental examination or extraction to oral cancer screening. Therefore, anyone needing complete dental care can visit a general dentist. Even if you do not need immediate treatment, it is advisable to make an occasional appointment for a general examination.

What Treatments Come Under This?

Here are only some of the basic and advanced dental care services provided by a general dentist:

  • Fillings: A method of restoring a cavity after removing dental caries. Fillings can also be used for tooth restoration when tooth wear is present.. It will be performed after examination and dental x-ray shows treatment is required.
  • Crowns: Crowns are used to restore the complete outermost layer of decaying or fully damaged teeth.
  • Root Canals: A root canal eliminates infected tissues from inside the tooth’s root. Dentists utilize antibacterial fillings before crowning the tooth.
  • Veneers: Shells that attach to the front side of a tooth to make it look better. Veneers can also alter the coloration and shape of your teeth.
  • Sports Mouth Guards: After examining the patient’s teeth, general dentists will design a precision made custom mouth guard to prevent cracks, broken teeth, and tooth loss from sport injuries.
  • Dentures: This traditional method is often used to replace teeth that are broken or missing. It is the cheapest option for tooth replacement.
  • Oral cancer screening: This examination is performed by dentists, doctors, and therapists to diagnose precancerous changes in the mouth. The goal is to detect any abnormalities as early as possible to increase the chances of a cure.
  • Gum disease screening: Dentists measure the gap between the gums and teeth to assess gum disease. There should be no gap. But gum disease causes pockets which fill with bacteria, tartar and plaque. This causes bleeding and bad breath. Dental hygienists remove the plaque, tartar and bacteria beneath the gums to allow the gums to attach back onto the teeth. If gum disease carries on without treatment, the teeth become loose and fall out. This is especially a problem for smokers or people with diabetes. Research is also linking gum disease to Alzheimer’s.

What Are the Most Common General Treatments?

Visual examinations and evaluations of teeth and gum condition, X-rays, sleep apnea therapy, sealants, and routine dental operations such as cavity removal, root canal therapy, tooth crowns, and tooth cleaning are among the basic services of a general dentist.

Why Choose a Private Dentist for General Dentist Treatments? What Are the Benefits?

Many people prefer using private dental care for things such as dental x-rays, teeth filling, dental cavities, and other general dentistry services. It’s because they get:

A Wide Range of Treatment Options

Treatments provided in public dentistry clinics are aimed to treat dental disorders and are only used if judged necessary by the patient. Private dental care, on the other hand, offers a broader choice of treatments in addition to basic procedures.

A Shorter Waiting List

Patients who want to sign up with an NHS dentist in their neighborhood may have to wait several months before even getting an appointment. The registration procedure at a private dentist is not as packed, so you will usually not need to wait long for a visit.

A Payment Plan

When you see a private dentist, you may be able to join a payment plan that covers the cost of your treatment in equal amounts for the year. This is especially useful for monthly budgeting and avoiding higher expenses for routine dental care.
